Comfort Show

Recently, whenever I am not working or writing I have been rewatching my old comfort show: Hey Arnold. After binging 75% of the first season on a work night, I remembered how much I used to love this show. Especially Helga and Arnold. My little shipper heart was re-awakened after seeing their interactions. Helga is the definition of “down bad” and every time she switches from insults to poetry I couldn’t help but cackle.

This Sunday I rewatched the 2002 Hey Arnold Movie and I could not contain my nostalgic joy nor the cringe I felt at watching my girl Helga awkwardly handle every situation she was thrown in. That kiss scene still makes me embarrassed for her!

And of course, In true Imani fashion, when I obsess over something, I obsess. Next thing I know I’m going through Craig Bartlett’s Instagram page, and saving all the cute fanart I can. Therefore, do not be surprised if you see I have been liking and saving Hey Arnold content on my socials, because I don’t see this stopping anytime soon.

Diet

My eating habits have been abysmal! Trying to balance working my full-time job, writing, and finding time for my personal devotions and reading, I can tell that my food intake has suffered as a result. I have eaten take-out for lunch all week, and since I live in an area with limited healthy options, I resort to hibachi, pizza, Chick-Fil-A, and the such.

On top of the fact that I would much rather be doing anything else other than cooking, my unhealthy priorities are starting to catch up to me. My goal for next month is to re-evaluate my daily practices and figure out how I can make healthy eating a priority within my routine. Hopefully I can find some consistency in the future.

Physical Fitness

Although my diet has suffered, my fitness goals have not. I have been enjoying my recent string of home workouts. Among achievements such as 20 consecutive pushups and 50 total jump lunges, I have finally met one of my milestones: an air squat! Although my form still needs some work, I am excited to have placed this achievement under my belt. Its funny looking back to when I was struggling to press out 5 modified pushups. With every physical achievement is a drive to learn something new.

Next stop: pull ups!
