I love, love. I love the act of love. I love the effects of love, and I love who love is. Love is God and as I love God so, also, do I love love.

My heart’s wish is to be a conduit through which love can electrify my surroundings. In turn, I have been nearly burdened by questions surrounding what I can do to better pour out what God has been pouring into me. How can I love greater? What can I do to love more intentionally? Do my friends know I love them? What about my family?

I have stated before on this blog that it is my belief that love is the greatest ministry and the highest calling. Without love, everything we do is meaningless. Yet, with love, all acts from large to small are impactful.

If I speak in the tonguesย of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.ย If I have the gift of prophecyย and can fathom all mysteriesย and all knowledge,ย and if I have a faithย that can move mountains,ย but do not have love, I am nothing.ย If I give all I possess to the poorย and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,ย but do not have love, I gain nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Love is the source from which all our desires originate. And though this healthy yearning to be loved has been morphed and perverted into the sin we are (or once were) entangled in, it is my firm belief that we are all looking for love. To love and to be loved is the core of the human soul.

As someone who works with children, I find it painful to see kids who love naturally, become jaded and withdrawn as they get older. Similarly, I too was left angry, bitter, resentful, and guarded as years passed. I have not always loved, nor have I always understood it. Like most, my love for people and the world around me has been tested and found to be conditional and failing.

That is what makes Jesus so amazing. The world had rejected Him, hated Him, despised Him, and killed Him. When love came in bodily form, they crucified it. And yet this was all in God’s plan. Through His love for a people who hated Him, he reforged the bond between Man and God.

When He was hated, He loved.

When He was rejected, He loved.

When He was whipped, He loved

When He was crucified, He loved.

And even as he hung, He prayed for the forgiveness of those who mocked Him below.

As a consequence, love won! Me, and you, and as many who believe can now experience true, unchanging love with a God who didn’t give up when He had every right to resign us to our sin.

So I strive to love, as we all should. For I have learned from my Father, that Love wins over hate every time. I have sat at the feet of some of the kindest people as they recount how they were abused by their father as a child. My mind is flooded with testimonies of men and women of God who make it a point to always give, because growing up, they barely had food on the table and clothes on their back. Through the ages the Love of God has survived martyrdom, wars, poverty, lies, and more. Let us have a heart to love, and may it be multiplied in the world around us. For, though our life is but a breath, love will never die.

Over the coming weeks, I seek to take you on a journey of transforming love. We will see the power, manifestations, and truths of love according to the Word of God. Let’s be transformed together into a true reborn lover!

Until next time,
