Color of the week: Tea Green

Nerd Fact: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were originally in black in white. They were given their distinctive colors for toy sales so that fans could tell them apart.

Early Mornings: Gym

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of early morning gym attendees is the gym bro (let’s call him Chad) with “God first” in their Instagram bio, drinking raw egg smoothies and fat shaming random women on the internet. But after not being able to go during any other time of the day, I decided to try to wake up at 5:30 a.m to get to the gym by 6:00 a.m for an hour-long workout.

I love it!

Being able to spend the first two hours of my morning improving my health changes the entire trajectory of my day. I go to work with a clear mind and my mood remains uplifted for the rest of the day. My goal is to go at least 4 times a week, alternating upper body and lower body. I will try to update my progress as I continue.

Food

Buta Bao Bun

After dropping our little sister in uptown Charlotte with her friends, me and my middle sister decided to go to a nearby ramen shop. Although I love that I moved from Charlotte to a smaller city, I still miss the food options that were easily available. I hadn’t had a quality bowl of ramen in months, so Menya Daruma was a much-needed dining experience. The food came out quickly and I tried a new variation called Spicy Tan Tan. Complete that order with a Mango Soda and a Buta Bao Bun…a flavorful masterpiece.

Hair Damage/Color Correction

I have dyed my hair a total of three times. The first time I dyed it pink, the second time blue, and the latest color is light brown. My hair was never good at holding onto color, but after this last hair dying experience, my gorgeous brown highlights washed out and blended with my old bluish green hair.

It was ugly and embarrassing. Fortunately, I booked my hairstylist for the next week. Turns out, my hair shaft is open, so it doesn’t hold color. Fortunatly, there was a solution: Color Conditioner.

This may be nothing new to those who are veteran hair dye-ers, but I have never heard of color depositing conditioner. After she used the color conditioner on my head, my hair returned to its original dyed state, and I no longer had to wear headwraps in 70-degree weather; thank God!

The brand I am using is from Maria Nila in Cacao Intense. I have been told their colors are vibrant, but this one is perfect if you want a more natural tone. I will update you all as I continue to use them.
