I never had a valentine. Yes, I had my handful of suitors, but none them made it far enough to be called my valentine. The 14th has always been like any other day.

But this valentines, I want to express my love to the people who have been with me every Valentines day and for the many days and seasons that came after.

To my mom…

This Valentines is for my mother who has seen my heart through every stage. Who has listened to me, even when I was rambling about nothing. My heartbeat who I would find on the couch, eyes heavy with sleep, because she couldn’t go to bed until I got home. My forever day 1 bestie!

To my mom: I love you

To my dad…

This Valentines is for my Dad. The first man who ever loved me. Thank you for showing me what it is to really be loved and protected as a lady. There are struggles I have never had to face and emotions I have never had to unpack because you were active and present in my life.

To my Dad: I love you

To my sisters…

This Valentines is for my sisters. My ride or dies and everything in between. I will always cherish that I got to grow up with my best friends. I pray that our days of shared adventures, inside jokes, and deep conversations never end. No matter where we go in life, you will always be my little sisters and as much as we irritate each other I would give the world to see you both always safe and happy.

To my Sisters: I love you

To my grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins…

This Valentines is for my Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. Even though my time with some of you lessened after we moved, I still treasure the moments we can spend together. Thank you for making every holiday, graduation, and special occasion so memorable. I hope to always remember all the recipes, game nights, summer barbeques, and good times we share together.

To my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins: I love you

To my friends both old and new…

This Valentines is for my Friends, both old and new. The beauty of genuine friendship is something I do not overlook. To have people who are unrelated by blood still choose to love you is a blessing. Thank you for the listening ear and answering my random calls. Thank you for the godly advice when I couldn’t think straight. There were times we hung out and I left with nothing but thankful praises to God because I just needed to be with you all in that moment.

To my Friends, both old and new: I love you

To my honey…

This Valentines is for my Honey girl. My first born child, and my answered prayer. My heart breaks knowing that you had to deal with so much fear and pain before we met. Yet, I am so glad it all led to me seeing you’re sweet little face at that small shelter in rural Polkton NC. I knew by the way you opened up over those shelter visits that you had found a home in me, and I in you. Although you are still my scared little baby, you have come so far and every butt wiggle and smiley face you give me lights up my world.

To my honey: I love you

To Jesus Christ…

Last but never least, this Valentine is for Jesus Christ. My first love and my greatest treasure. We have been through everything together and I can look back and see that you never left me. With love you corrected me and with love you protected me. In love you blessed me and in love you rescued me. Your love is what my soul longs for and it is all I rely on from day to day. There is no one else before you in my heart because there is no one comparable to you. We are committed for life, and I look forward to each new day I get to wake up and love you and be loved by you again.

To Jesus Christ: I love you

Thank you everyone for making this Valentines day and every day before so incredibly special.

Cheers and prayers to many more valentines to come!

Sincerely Yours,

The Road Writer
