Here’s a quick update on what’s been going on with The Road Writer.

Goodbye North Carolina

Although I had a flight to Missouri, it did not take off until later in the evening. So, instead of calling out completely, I decided to go to work and save some vacation hours.

Unfortunately for me, I immediately regreted my decision when I woke up to a dreary thunderstorm pelting my window.

But no worries! Leave it to North Carolina to do a good ol’ pump fake when it comes to the weather. By 11:00 it was hot and sunny. With my track suit on, I was ready to hit the road.

Next Stop: St. Louis

I hate airports. I find them to be confusing and overstimulating.

However, contrary to my other experiences, I found navigating to my gate to be quick and simple. Once I found my gate, I set about looking for some sustenance.

Airport food is expensive, but I had to eat something. I had a delicious chicken salad sandwich from Panera with a green smoothie. Once I had my food, I set about scheduling some of this week’s upcoming blog posts.

Hair Update!

I forgot to mention! After months of protective styles, I am back to my natural fro.

I’ve missed her so much! I plan on rocking her for a while before I go back to my protective style rotation. I am not looking forward to the maintenance, but it’s worth it in the end so I am not complaining.

Smooth Flight

I was fortunate to have a small passenger count on my flight. My entire row was empty and I secured a window seat which is always a plus.

The flight was relaxing. Although air travel is my least favorite form of transportation, I find the actual act of flying to be enjoyable. There’s something about seeing the world from the perspective of the sky that is so mesmerizing. I thought of David’s inquiry to God in Psalm 8:4.

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

Texas Roadhouse

Once my plane landed, I was picked up and taken to Texas Roadhouse.

Do you want to guess what I ordered?

Vegetable platter with a Caeser salad and three orders of green beans. Honestly, I wish I would’ve ordered four! I barely looked at that salad. Those green beans were delicious and were exactly what I was looking for after a quick flight.

Now the fun could begin!

Stay tuned for part 2!

Until next time,

The Road Writer!
