Don’t you just love when you finally start to fall into a healthy routine and here comes life to remind you that it does not give two dolphin squeaks how you feel?

I know I do… (if you couldn’t tell that was sarcasm)

Basically, A lot has happened since I came back from St. Louis. It has been 2 weeks of busy busy busy!

Getting Back into Work Life

I am someone who thrives on routine. So after vacations I tend to struggle to get back into the swing of things. Waking up early, managing my work responsibilities, and basically, life responsibilities. It did not help that I did not give myself any time to wind down. I arrived home from the airport around 9:00 p.m on Sunday knowing I had to get up at 6:40 a.m for work Monday morning.

The plan was to give myself the week to allow myself to get back into my usual routine. Well, as usual, my plans mean nothing to my immune system.

Fevers and Pills

Day 3 Temp

Thursday afternoon I started feeling “off”. Slight body aches, headache, and slight sore throat. However, with the changing seasons and pollen, these symptoms were typical allergy symptoms for me.

But allergies have never given me a fever.

And of course, when I checked my temp, there it was staring right back at me. 101.3 F fever. Then 102. Then 102.6. Then 103. No matter what medication I took, my fever never broke. So when Monday came and I was still feverish, I knew I had to make the dreaded doctor’s visit.

Please understand I am a stubborn patient. I avoid the doctor like the plague and I will always try to fix the problem on my own. Healthcare is expensive even with insurance and you can oftentimes walk out without answers and down $70. However, when you have a fever that isn’t breaking for 4 days without medication, you need to get your but to the doctor.

Strep Got Me

For the first time ever, I had acquired strep. Fortunately, after one day of being on antibiotics my fever did break and I was slowly getting back to normal by Wednesday. So, since my last post it had been around 1 week and I was itching to get back to writing. However, between catching up on all my work from my job, trying to get my body back into a gym routine and personal obligations my poor laptop started to collect dust.

My appetizer before the entree (soup). 5 star cuisine 8/10

Regardless, I am back, I am healthy, and I am ready to write everything I have been thinking about while I was stuck in that stupid bed all week!

Stay tuned!
