This week has been eventful to say the least. Easter Sunday photoshoot, uptown adventures, appointments, gym, and more.

I decided to break this down into two parts to improve length and readability. To keep you all from getting too tired before I recount the week’s events, I opted to remove my “Quick Info” section to be mindful of reading time.

Now let’s begin!

Girly Maintenance

Road Trip Snacks

All my curly headed girls, especially my afro textured sisters, understand the need for a hair break. After fighting with my hair for 2 months, it was time for her to take a vacation.

Once my appointment day came around, I grabbed my road snacks and drove 45 minutes to my favorite braider. I found her right before we moved but she is too good to replace. Her business is Galore Hair Salon in Kannapolis/Concord NC. I highly recommend you check her out if you’re in the area.

As usual, she sat me on time, and I was finished within the next 2 hours. I wanted something simple, since I planned on switching it out in around a month. So of course I got the Old Faithful cornrows! I love them and since I have a sensitive scalp it gives me easier access to take care of my head.

Nails

It had been 3 weeks since my last set of acrylics and I was going through withdrawals! I personally love creative, long, and pointy nails (my favorite shape is stiletto). However, since I chose to go to school for a job in healthcare I am prevented from indulging in my nail fantasies.

Regardless, I still love having pretty nails and I try to play safely with what I can. I’ve been wanting some “blueberry bliss tips” for a while so Wednesday was my opportunity. The nail tech did a great job of making sure my nails were work appropriate length while adhering to my request of a “pointy almond” shape. I normally switch my nails every week, but I think I’ll get a refill since these are worth the longevity.

Fun in Uptown CLT!

Since I was off of work, my sister wanted to ride the light rail and go to uptown charlotte (for my own convenience I will be referring to charlotte as CLT). I remember when the light rail was being built back when I lived in CLT, so I was curious as to how it worked. Turns out it was easier than I thought. I never had to use public transportation, so I wanted to learn since I hate driving in the city. Fortunately, we didn’t have any difficulties and we were free to walk around.

My Fit: One piece hoodie, AK shoulder purse, Burberry glasses, gold hoops, and $30 running shoes <3

Unfortunately, I live in NC which means the weather is spontaneous. Although it had been in the 70s Sunday through Wednesday, when it was time for us to go out it decided to be in the 50s. On top of being cloudy and windy, the walking was much appreciated as some warmth was needed.

New Ramen Spot

We first went to Jinyu Ramen since the small town I moved to has deprived me of the quality international cuisine I was used to in CLT. I ordered Spicy Garlic Mabo Men with White Rice and a 5-piece crispy chicken appetizer.

After having our fill, we walked around without a destination (my favorite activity) and strolled this relaxing greenery spot.

There was a meditation area connected to a catholic church as well as a couple of art pieces strewn about the clearing. There was a festival called SHOUT! that had taken place which seemed to focus on Art and Music appreciation.

Amelie’s Bakery: Strawberry delight!

Strawberry Goodness plus a mini cheesecake brownie

After an alternating pattern of walk, get lost, and repeat, we stumbled upon a sign for Amelie’s Bakery and immediately changed our direction.

I had been to Amelie’s in University CLT, but it had been a while, and the one in Uptown had a lot more dessert varieties. It felt like I was going in for the first time.

I don’t remember the name of the dish I ordered but it was a beautiful orb imbued with cheesecake and strawberry filling wrapped in strawberry fondant, topped with a glazed strawberry. It was heavenly.

Once we decided we were full, we walked a little longer until we decided to head home.

But my week doesn’t end there!

Stay tuned for part 2! In the meantime, feel free to explore our blog and catch up on some more digital journal entries!

With Love,
