I don’t know who needs to hear this but say “yes” to that opportunity!

Your yes, can lead you into rooms you never thought you could be a part of.

Early this year, I didn’t know where I wanted to be in life, but I knew it wasn’t in my present situation. Due to a series of events where I went through a 20-year old’s equivalent of a mid-life crisis, I began to explore all of the career paths I could take. At one point I was almost certain I was going to move away and become a fisherman!

Yet, in all my wandering, I was afraid of making a decision I would later regret just because I wanted to escape my current life.

I wanted God to lead me to where I was called to go. It was this formula of saying “yes” that led me into opportunities that, at one point, I would have turned down without a second thought. I am currently walking in those opportunities, and I know more are waiting for me.

Please understand, when I recommend saying “yes” to every opportunity, I really mean, that I want you to think before you say “no”.

Why are you afraid of walking in this new direction? Is it because you feel inadequate? Maybe you’re anxious about everything you don’t know or your level of experience. How do you see yourself compared to how others see you?

My “no” was rooted in fear, doubt, and anxiety. I did not believe myself capable of completing most of what was asked of me. The fear that I would fail, the anxiety that I would mess something up, the dread of being imperfect and, more than anything, the embarrassment of being seen trying. This what kept me from entering spaces that God had meant for me to stand in.

If this is you, please understand: the fear will pass, the anxiety will fade, but the regret will last forever!

I don’t know what opportunities you may have been presented with but examine the reason why you don’t want to take it. Is it for the reasons mentioned above? Is it based on fear? This is your motivation to take a chance. Remember, the word “no” is not the problem. It’s fine to walk away from something that does not align with your life or values. It is another matter to close doors that God may have provided because you allowed fear to say it wasn’t meant for you.

Stay blessed!

With Love,
