Come spend the day with me as I try to make the most of my Saturday.
Morning Jog
Although I have always been a night owl, my body clock has begun to betray me as I now work during the day. So when I woke up at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday I found myself a bit miffed.
However, I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to get a good morning jog in as I often am unable to do this most mornings. After putting on a random pair of leggings and a t-shirt that certainly did not match, I grabbed Honey and set off.
To my delight, the weather was a little cloudy which gave us much needed protection from those stinging sun rays.
My poor honey is not the most fit dog. She would much rather take a leisurely stroll or rest next to her favorite humans than run. She kept up for (maybe) the first minute or two. Afterwards, the poor girl was struggling. I hope that with time and consistency, she will grow her endurance.
On a certain bend in my neighborhood there is a bush full of honey suckles. Any kid who grew up playing outside can detect that smell anywhere. I was tempted to grab me a few as a little treat but I resisted. Living in the south, I know folks are serious about their property lines.
Let’s Get Dressed
I opted this morning for something colorful and spring-y (excuse my wording). So this maxi dress set was my natural first choice.
Pair it with flower earrings and some bracelets, and I have a fit. After giving myself a little fashion show I grabbed my tote bag and set off for the farmer’s market.
The Farmer’s Market
To my understanding, this day was the Farmers market’s opening day. Oddly, I did not come with a plan or a grocery list considering I wanted to know what vendors they had before committing to a list. My upcoming grocery list is as follows
- A gallon of Strawberries
- Fresh Milk
- 2 Sourdough Loaves
- 2 dozen Fresh Eggs
- Loose Leaf Ginger Lemon Tea
- 1 cinnamon roll
In the midst of my perusing I came across the cutest pre-made bouquets. My mind went to the empty vase on my work desk at home. I guess this was a sign.

Now, time to rush to my church Spring Fest.

New Life Lexington Spring Fest
My Church, New Life Church of Jesus Christ-Lexington hosts an annual Spring Festival for the community. The church and surrounding lexington families come together to enjoy each other via games, food, and a few vendors.
As the church photographer, I had to make sure to capture the fun of the day. Unfortunately, I had a friend date at 12 and the event was from 11-2. That meant I had a little bit of time to get a lot done.
Due to content rights and my lacking legal knowledge, I have opted to not show any pictures that I took. However, you can go to New life Lexington on instagram or facebook and find the pictures there!
Brunch and Downtown Strolls
Me, and my two friends hadn’t seen each other in a while. As a trio that used to always talk, it had become apparent that all of us needed that time again. So we agreed on meeting up for brunch this Saturday at The Factory-Coffee & Waffles near downtown.

For my order, I had a matcha latte with their Over the Top Waffle. My matcha was good, but I was a little disappointed in myself as I forgot to order it “iced”. Fortunately, I cannot say the same about my waffle. It was deliciously cooked to peak fluffiness and topped with decadent sausage gravy and scrambled eggs.

Since the shop closed early on Saturday and our conversations were nowhere near finished, we opted to walk around downtown and just chat.
I missed hanging out with my girls. When you become adults, it’s so easy to get caught up in your own life that you forget the importance of connection. Walking around the city, matcha in hand while catching up on what God’s been doin in our lives was therapeutic. I went home feeling refreshed in my spirit.
These are the friendships I used to pray for.
Blogging
Once I got home, I pet my dog, unloaded my bag and set up my workspace. Truthfully, this space feels more like a cozy hideout rather than a workspace. After work and on the weekends, I find myself spending more time here as I set about writing, reading, drawing, journaling, and hobby hoarding to my heart’s content.

One day I hope to have my own office space where I can be creative and take care of business in the same area. Until then, this little patch of peace will do just fine.

Thank you for spending the day with me.
Until next Time,
