Dear Future Home,
I am so excited to meet you! There are so many memories I can’t wait to make as we navigate life together.
A future home in the countryside
Unfortunately, I don’t know where you are or what kind of home you will be. Honestly, with the way prices are looking, you may not even be a house.
Maybe you’re an apartment or a townhome. I wouldn’t mind that.
In fact, I much prefer smaller spaces. They always felt more intimate.
Regardless, I wouldn’t mind if you changed over time. You don’t have to always be an apartment. Maybe you’ll want to be a condo. I could see you wanting to be a quaint mountain cabin nestled somewhere amidst the famous Blue Ridge.

I must admit, I much prefer if you would be a cottage. I’ve always dreamed of living in a cottage in the countryside. Even as a child, I saw you sitting peacefully in a hilly green plain surrounded by woodland creatures and forestry. Calm, peaceful, and natural. I’m aware it’s a bit whimsical, but I’ve never been one to shy from turning fantasy into reality. I am also aware that I must get over my fear of bugs. At least enough to not jump out of my skin when one crosses my path.
A future home full of memories

Oh! And don’t get me started on the memories we are going to make! The excitement that seizes me every time I think about all of the parties and intimate get-togethers that we are going to have sends me into a whirlwind of anticipation. No matter where you’re located, just know there will be plenty of laughter, silliness, and love to fill you to the brim.
Every holiday will be celebrated. And I mean every holiday.
- Christmas
- Easter
- 4th of July
- St. Patrick’s Day,
- Arbor Day,
- Earth Day
Give me a theme and date and I will find a reason to congregate (yes that did ryhme).
I miss when people would have cookouts for no reason. Why can’t we bring back tea parties or movie nights. Heck, what happened to sleepovers?! We finally have our own places. What’s stopping us? So, I have made it my personal mission to build community, and you will be my vessel. Don’t worry, my future husband is already aware and has resigned to his fate (although I think he secretly likes the idea).

A future home for children
I want to be the house children remember for years to come. Even if they don’t remember my name, I hope they remember you. If I don’t have my own children, I still want to make an impact in the childhoods of the kids around me. My friend’s kids, God children, nieces and nephews; even the kids in the community are welcomed in my home. Activities, games, snacks and all sorts of entertainment will be ready and prepared when children come around.
A future safe space
My hope since I was a little girl was to create a safe space through you. I want a place that me, my husband, my friends and my family can retreat to for peace. My home should be comfortable, cozy, fun, and personable. I can’t wait to make that a reality.

You will be such a blessing, my future home. It is my mission to ensure you are filled daily with love, laughter, and intimacy. Praise and prayer will be your covering. Guests will smell the scents of baked goods and homemade dinner each time they approch your door. I will not take you for granted.
Just know you are wanted, dreamed about, and prayed for all the time. You are a blessing, and I will steward you well.
See you (hopefully) soon.
With Love,
